Kumana National Park
Kumana National Park is a bird sanctuary located on the South-East coast of Sri Lanka. Just a 45 minute drive down the coast from Arugam Bay, Kumana is home to rare species of bird such as the Eurasian Spoonbill, Lesser Adjutant and Great Thick-Knee. A total of 225 species of bird have been recorded at Kumana making it one of the most important bird nesting grounds on the island. Aside from being abundant with birdlife, the park is also home to mammals such as elephants, wild boar, sloth bears and leopards..
