Yoga and Wellness

At Hideaway, we believe in creating a holistic experience for our guests. A space of calm and healing that works alongside the care and comfort provided by our staff and accommodation and our locally-sourced and modern menu to create a total immersion in wellbeing and mindfulness.

Join a Vinyasa, Yin or Airo Yoga class, treat yourself to an Ayurvedic massage or simply relax in our beautiful pool. Our Yoga and Wellness Shala is a bright open space overlooking our pool, away from the bustle of the town. We aim to provide a tranquil escape from the outside world where our guests can focus and reconnect using our wide array of treatments, classes and one-on-one consultations.

Our Vision

The Hideaway experience is one of nurturing and care, where you can come to refocus and realign. We have for several years provided an environment that is designed to allow you to do just that. The Yoga and Wellness Shala is a natural progression of this sensibility, to create a balanced, mindful experience.

Just as we do in our own lives, we hope to strive for this balance and this space allows us and our guests to continue on this journey. Step by step, day by day, working towards a more enriched, more present existence.

Our Shala

The Shala is the centerpoint of this journey. Built behind the main property, it is designed to be tucked away far from the distractions of the main strip. The Shala is a bright open air space with wooden floors perfect for yoga and meditation. It is bookended by a meditation space and a swimming pool, each working to create a calm and collected atmosphere.

Next to it, our private treatment room sits where guests may indulge in Ayurveda treatments, massages and visiting wellness practitioners will explore their craft, all in a beautiful space that uses the inside-outside architectural principles of Sri Lanka.

Daily Yoga Classes

We offer three styles of yoga with a wonderful team of teachers. We offer both morning and evening sessions and private sessions for groups and individuals can be booked on request.

Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic practice; we synchronise breath with movement to create a moving meditation, stretching and strengthening body and calming the mind.

Airo Yoga is a fresh and playful spin on aerial yoga combining elements of Vinyasa yoga, Pilates and acro-play. This practice is ideal for all levels and is a great supportive practice for yogis and surfers.

Yin Yoga is a quiet meditative practice. Poses are held for longer working to relax muscles, stretch and stimulate the ligaments joints and bones, all towards increasing energy flow in the body.

The classes accomodate for a wide range of levels and are open to anyone and can be paid for on arrival.

For those further along in their study, we also offer teacher trainings. This season there will be four 50-Hour Airo Yoga teacher trainings.


We are so grateful to have Natalie overseeing our yoga program. Throughout the year, different teachers join her, bringing a range of different styles and modalities to appeal to all student levels. Coming from different backgrounds, training qualifications and teaching approaches, our teachers are all professional, well-education and experienced.

Private sessions can be organized with individual teachers upon request.

South African born and raised, Natalie has been Asian-based for the past six years. Originally coming from a background in business management, Natalie spent four years on the Gili Islands and Bali, refining her understanding of yoga, completing trainings in Vinyasa Yoga, aerial yoga and Reiki. Since then she has accumulated over 2000 hours of teaching experience in Bali, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

In 2018 she developed her brand of aerial yoga called Airo Yoga. Airo Yoga combines all the elements she enjoyed most through her journey of practising: Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates and Acro-play. Natalie has been the lead teacher on seven of her own Airo Yoga teacher trainings in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Morocco and the Maldives as well as a lead trainer on 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings programs.

She is currently a student at the Rishikesh Ashtanga Shala where she is refining her Ashtanga Yoga practice under Sachin Badoni.

Natalie’s classes are dynamic, active and asana orientated with particular emphasis on building strength and flexibility in the body either with the support of the Airo Swing or through an invigorating and heat-building Vinyasa flow class.

Ayurvedic Treatment and Massage

Ayurveda is the ancient system of medicine centered around holistic healing. A philosophy and science that uses different practices and therapies to take the individual into account and treat them according to what they need in order to achieve a sense of wellbeing.

Our treatments are conducted by specially trained practitioners who come from a tradition of Ayurveda. We offer massage and other treatments and use our own house-made oils. A blend of 87 different herbs, foraged from all around the island, are infused over a hearth for five days. This ensures that the oils used in our treatments are of the purest and cleanest properties designed for their therapeutic qualities.

Healing Space Collective

In addition to the services we offer in-house, the Shala is also host to a residency programme for all those who are in the Wellness and Healing Space.

Every season, the Shala will host several different practitioners who have their own unique approach to wellness. This can cover the gamut from acupuncture, intuitive healing, and specialised massage. Each practitioner will spend a duration of time during season at Hideaway offering one-on-one sessions, classes and workshops available to our guests. What we provide is a curated offering of new viewpoints and perspectives to give you a better rounded and thorough experience.

Private Yoga Sessions

Private yoga sessions in the Shala are all part of our effort to offer a fuller experience. Private sessions are carefully designed to suit your needs, all in an effort to create a more enriching experience. If you have a specific injury, are pregnant, a novice to yoga or if you simply prefer the privacy of a one-on-one session then this is the option we recommend.

The session entails a preliminary consultation with our teacher followed by a one hour session the next day. The session will combine teachings from the Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga and be tailor-made to suit your body and specific needs; advancing your practice and creating a more balanced thoughtful space for you to move in.

Yoga and Meditation Workshops

Part of the journey in building a more present and enriched life is also pushing one’s practice and advancing your skill set. We offer weekly workshops throughout our peak season ranging from Meditation, Pranayama, Beginners workshops in Yoga, Surya Namaskar, Arm Balances, Chakra workshops and Chanting.

Each workshop will be an hour long, and will be announced each month via our social media. Each is designed to allow new students into wellness and pushing those who do practice to move further along in their study.

Hire Our Space

Our inspiring facility is also available for practitioners looking to treat clients in our space.

Those looking to run Yoga Teacher Training courses, create group Yoga retreats or use the space for any classes, sessions or consultations within the Wellbeing and Mindfulness space are welcome to book the Hideaway Yoga and Wellbeing Shala.

We can accomodate large retreats during our off-peak seasons during the months of October to April. Retreats will not only be able to accommodate participants but also allow you to work with our chefs and kitchen team to create bespoke healthy menus, and have full use of the Yoga shala and treatment rooms. This, coupled with the Hideaway experience of being immersed in nature, surrounded by a myriad of holy sites, wild outdoors, the wildlife reserve and of course the stunning beaches that dot the coast, provide the perfect backdrop to teach and practice.

We will work with practitioners to advertise places in their programs and work with them to ensure a peaceful and calming retreat.
